Project NCRTC – India in 21st Century
National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) - a Joint Venture of Govt of India and the States of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh is mandated for implementing the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project across the National Capital Region. This mobility system will not only improve regional connectivity but will also help to promote sustainable and balanced urban development in the NCR region.
But, why was this set of bodies formed?
The
NCRTC body was established in 2013. The Union Cabinet approved this body under
the Companies Act, 1956 with an initial capital of Rs.100 crores. This body was
formed to design, develop, implement, finance, operate and maintain the
Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) to provide comfortable and fast
transit to NCR towns and meet the high growth in transport demand.
This project involves an estimated investment of US$20 billion for phase 1. This round includes three rapid-rail corridors across Delhi - Meerut, Delhi - Panipat, and Delhi - Alwar routes. Routes for phase 2 projects include Delhi – Faridabad – Ballabgarh – Palwal, which has started taking the shape.
Sanfield India Limited has played a very important part in this prestigious project. We supplied a large number of MSM (Maurer sliding material) Spherical Bearings for this project, which was exclusively designed and manufactured by Team Sanfield.
We have supplied a total number of 1984 bearings for the 1st project, with the project cost of approximately 17 crores. And a total of 3988 spherical bearings are being supplied by Team Sanfield for 2nd project, at a project cost of approximately 32 crores. The load on the bearings varies from 1350 kN to 8050 kN (ultimate limit state or ULS)
“Team NCRTC is working day and night to provide the people of NCR Regional rapid transit system, a next-generation green mobility solution. It will significantly reduce pollution and congestion in the region. Transformational projects like RRTS are part of long-term strategic intervention of government towards environmentally sustainable development of NCR.” says Vinay Kumar Singh, the managing director of NCRTC.
Construction
activities generate a huge amount of Air pollution. To reduce this, NCRTC has
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SECI (Solar Energy Corporation
of India) in which a total of 40% of solar renewable energy generated through different
sources of SECI, will be used for this project. This way there will be less
pollution and reduction in heavy cost of
the project establishment.
With
the completion of this project, a milestone will be achieved by the Government
of India and all the organisations who are involved in this project, including
Sanfield India Limited.
This
project is going to impact on the economy of country on a large scale. The
travel time will be reduced, which is going to impact on the overall
productivity of the region. Less travel time will eventually impact on the fuel
consumption and savings, gradually creating a positive impact on the surroundings
of environment. Also with a systematic travel plan, traffic congestion will
decrease, resulting in the less consumption of energy and saving a lot of time.
This project has also open up a large number of employment opportunities for
all levels, further contributing to the financial economy of India.
