Pride of North India : Signature Bridge

Signature Bridge - A new tourist destination, located across the Yamuna River connecting Wazirabad to east Delhi, is the most contemporary landmark for the capital of India - Delhi. The bridge was inaugurated on 4 November 2018 by the then Chief Minister of Delhi - Arvind Kejriwal, to ease the rapidly-increasing traffic congestion on the existing Wazirabad bridge.

The architectural highlight of the bridge is its inclined pylon of 156-metre. Over the top is a 30 meters steel glass that has selfie spots to accommodate 50 visitors at one time. The pylon of Signature Bridge is the tallest structure in Delhi and is double the height of Qutub Minar. The bridge is being projected as India’s first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge, with the gesture ‘Namaste’. The graphics and laser show happening here symbolizes a modern and progressive India.

The iconic bridge has proven to be a huge economic booster as it draws the attention of tourists from across India and even aboard. It shortens the travel time between north and northeast Delhi, thus helping to reduce pollution from the neighbourhood surroundings. The bridge boasts 127 strands of back-stay cables, standing over the two MSM® spherical bearings underneath the pylon footings, each of them accommodating the structural loads of up to 231,000kN of the pylon.

Besides these, Sanfield has also supplied 34 spherical bearings which have been placed on the ends of bridge pillars. These MSM spherical bearings have a capacity of “17100 Metric Tons, In-service load (SLS)” and “23000 Metric Tons, Ultimate Load Case (ULS)”.

Testing Certifications play an important role in the product life. It gives a standardisation to the products based on different parameters and norms. One of them is CE certification. A CE Certified product goes through stage-wise inspection, which helps to maintain the quality aspects. Though it helps to provide a better quality of product, the manufacturing of these products is more time-consuming, because of the inspection process. The spherical bearings used in the Signature Bridge are CE marked bearings. They help to maintain the balance of the rotation of the bridge. These are the largest ever-used spherical bearings in any
Indian Project.

Sanfield India Limited has always believed in the highest quality. Our huge bearings have followed all the quality norms of international standards, which are equipped with advanced material like MSM (Maurer Sliding Material), 1090 Certifications and ISO 3834 Certifications. These certifications help to ensure that the products have a long life and require low maintenance. Also, these products are cost-effective.

Sanfield India Limited has always worked under the standard parameters of the industry and has tried to maintain the quality of products. We always try to put in some extra efforts to ensure the timely delivery of the end product to all its clients.

Thus, the construction of the Signature Bridge under the Delhi Tourism authority was one of the prestigious and remarkable projects for Team Sanfield.
